Space Food

You are probably wondering about the space food that we are offering at THE SUN recently? It is really good. I'll load up the pictures once I start on my third pack.

Have tried the curry chicken & the hainanese chicken rice. These are microwaveable or heated on a saucepan. "Real chicken on real rice".... Delicious with extra oomph..

Enough of plugging - do try it when you feel like having instant noodles alternatives. Available in 4 flavors - Curry chicken, black pepper, Hainanese chicken and mutton. We hear that the vegetarian version would be out soon.. plus a Udon range.

Today, I've decided to try the Ravioli with spinach & cheese, in the same series...... and it simply blew me off my chair. It's that good... equivalent to some pretty good restaurants in Singapore. Try it... you would know what I mean.

Packham pear

A specialty pear, native to Australia that has a less symmetrical pear shape, but a somewhat larger size at its base than other pears. The Packham Pear generally has a short stout shape with an irregular or bumpy surface. The outer pale yellow skin covers a white juicy flesh that is very sweet in flavor. The texture of the flesh on a Packham Pear is firm, but softens as it ripens. It is a variety that is a cross between a Bartlett and a Yvedale Saint-Germain pear.

2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Moderate winter rains were followed by periods of heavy rain in Spring and Summer, providing ample soil moisture reserves. Conditions during the ripening period were mild by Australian standards, with warm, fine, sun-drenched days extending into Autumn and, along with cool nights, ensured gradual ripening. These conditions produced fully ripened grapes with excellent colour, intense flavours and varietal expression.

Orangina

Orangina is a carbonated soft drink made from oranges and tangerines. According to its English website, "The exact formula is a closely guarded secret, but Orangina is made up of a high content of orange juice and pulp: The bottle claims 12% juice, and 2% pulp." It has a long history, but was produced in colonized Algeria, and later in France after Algeria won its independence. The brand's popularity extends from its unique flavour to the iconic design of its 25 cl size bottle made in the shape of a pear with a pebbly texture meant to recall the peel of an orange or other citrus fruit.

AEROPONICS (free samples)

Aero-Green's aeroponics growing system is developed by Professor Lee Sing Kong of Nanyang Technological University. Aeroponics is a method of growing plants whereby the roots of the plants are suspended in the air. The plants are anchored in holes, atop a panel of polystyrene foam.

Being cultivated in a protected environment, the system also produces cleaner vegetables. Essentially, this system allows "soil-less" farming. The vegetables avoid contact with soil borne pests and fungus. The greenhouse which vegetables are grown in also functions as a pest-isolating device.
